Great quality sound card packed with features
These Xonar DGX sound cards are really good value for money. They use a single PCI-E slot, and can also be mounted with the included low profile bracket, so they fit well into a small case. The software installs easily and there is a driver available for pretty much all Windows OS 32 or 64 bit. There are plenty of features including additional volume controls, equaliser, environment, key shift, voice cancellation etc. It also has enough ports to do 5.1 surround sound, as well as an optical output should you choose to go digital. There are also front panel headers on the card, and in the software you can choose whether your front panel is HD or AC'97. Apparently these also amplify the volume, however I've never really tested with headphones plugged directly into the card. Though I can safely say that going from integrated Realtek audio (which I rate highly anyway) to this, has shown a noticeable difference in volume! Personally I don't rate the Sound Blaster cards much, alot of hype over nothing. These do the job perfectly well!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great sound but high latency if used with a musical instrument or microphone.
I'll be honest the sound quality is noticeably better than my previous card so I can recommend that side of things but I wanted it for use with an electric guitar and there is so much delay on the analogue input that it is unusable and I have thrown it in the bin. The on-board sound card doesn't sound as clear but there is no noticeably latency. I spent hours researching via Google and this seems to be a known problem but only if you want to use with a live instrument or microphone.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Fantastic Sound and the Headphone Switch is awesome
I didn't think I was missing much from my music, turns out I was wrong. This sound card has improved my music listening experience, and the auto switching front panel headphone connection is perfect. The only bad thing is that it could be considered a little tricky to install. Physically it is easy, just wang it in a PCI-E slot, from a software point of view you need to disable onboard sound in the BIOS, then install the drivers, then install the management software that comes with the card. A great improvement in sound quality.
Working from home, I spend a lot of time listening to the radio and/or music via my PC and a decent quality stereo. The audio card on my PC's motherboard was uninspiring and affected by interference. It takes only moment or two to install this card and the quality of the sound was noticeably improved.
