Sonic Spinball isn't pure pinball, and it isn't as freewheeling as the games that inspired it, but it does have an interesting, Sonic-themed twist.
Sonic Spinball is a loose interpretation of pinball, with Sonic filling the role of the ball. He spends most of the game in a perpetual spin-dash and smacks off of flippers and bumpers just like a ball would, but you can also steer him to some extent by pushing on the directional pad. The game's four tables each have multiple sections outfitted with flippers, bumpers, and the usual sorts of pinball targets.
The Graphics are right on the same level as other later Sonic games on the Genesis. The mini-games between stages are visually distinct and well done
The Audio has some very heavy and impressive beats, especially in the second and third stages
The difficulty level of Spinball's four massive stages will keep new players from mastering them for a long time. Four people can play, passing one controller.
