Vaxxers by Professor Sarah Gilbert and Dr Catherine Green, written with Deborah Crewe. Hardback, 2021, first edition, second print, flat-signed by both authors on title page, published by Hodder & Stoughton, 336 pages +.
The book is written in a way everybody can understand, the story of two women who juggled home and family in the face of a pandemic to make a vaccine that would ultimately save millions if not billions of people around the world. I am by no means an academic but I could understand it and being on the front line of caring for Covid victims I see the impact the vaccines have and on a personal level I am so grateful for the vaccine having caught covid a couple of weeks ago and being vaccinated helped keep me from being seriously unwell. I would recommend this book to everyone but especially to anti Vaxxers, I have them in my family, this would be a good reliable source of information for them.
Fascinating book by two remarkable women who juggled running their households with trying to save the world in double quick time. Answered many questions that many people made, ie how could a vaccine be made so quickly. Where there's a will (and the money!) there's a way. I read the book in three days, sharing their excitement when things went well, and their disappointment when things did not go the way they hoped. Truly inspirational and highly recommend this book.
