Hannes Holm writes and directs this Swedish comedy drama adapted from Fredrik Backman's novel. Spending his days visiting his wife's grave and doing his best to avoid those closest to him, surly 59-year-old widow Ove (Rolf Lassgard) has earned a reputation amongst his neighbours for his bad temper and strict principles. However, when pregnant Parvaneh (Bahar Pars) and her family move into the home opposite, Ove's life takes an unexpected turn for the better. Despite her reversing over his mailbox, Parvaneh and Ove soon begin to build an unlikely friendship which causes Ove to reconsider his outlook on life. The cast also includes Filip Berg, Ida Engvoll and Tobias Almborg.

An irritable, elderly busybody spends his days making his neighbors miserable with his grousing and demands for order, but his crabbiness hides a deep grief for his deceased wife, whom he hopes to soon join.     Hear-warming human story for our times

    A very heart-warming story about a curmudgeonly man who is wrapped up in duty and a critical approach to other humans so doesn't realise how capable of love he is. This is brought out beautifully by neighbours with very different values and life-styles who redeem him. As will all films, not all the dimensions of the story are detailed, so if you enjoy it, read the book too.
