    Our family has four CRF250L Rallies and as Dad I’m the one who winds up doing all the wrenching. We have one 2017 and three 2018s, all of which came from Honda with the slightly larger header pipe and therefore did not need a megabomb header. The 2018s all have FMF Q4 pipes, the 2017 is stock. All have enlarged holes in the air box and K&N filters to breathe better. We ride about 50/50 onroad/offroad. Okay, so first off, the EJK is pretty simple to install if you have basic mechanical competence and a 10mm socket. Having small hands would help also, but I don’t and it still wasn’t bad. Basically you remove the seat and plastics off the left side of the bike, unplug the injector wire, and this unit plugs in between the factory connector and the injector. A bit hard to get at but very simple action. The instructions are good enough if not fantastic. Fire it up, programmed to the EJK’s recommended settings and was not at all impressed. It backfired a lot, tried to die when you chop the throttle, and seemed to be way too rich. Got online to see what others had found for sea level, tried those and it helped a ton. Biggest initial impression was that it doesn’t make any difference. Any power increase was minimal, and because this thing doesn’t actually plug into the O2 sensor it has no way to automatically adjust or learn the bike. So why four stars? Well, after riding it a while and comparing it to a stock bike I realized it does actually help. The bike does make a bit more oomph throughout its range, most importantly (perhaps) up at the top end. You will be hard-pressed to notice, honestly, but if you want to hold 70+ mph then it makes a difference. It also accelerates just a smidgen faster, IMHO, but again you’d have to ride back-to-back with a stock bike to notice. Would I buy it again? Yeah, I’m just dumb enough to want every last gram of power I can get, plus I feel better knowing the engine isn’t running super lean anymore. But does it actually give a 4-6hp increase like they claim? No way.

  • Best pound for pound mod on a CRF 250

    Product is very compact and easily fitted under the seat, or bracketed onto the bars for fine adjustments whilst riding. Fitment is so simple, two plug/ socket connections and ready to go; looks quality in respect of finish/ fittings/wiring sleeve. Currently on standard settings as supplied from Dobeck, except for a K&N filter and 6 x 25mm air filter vents in the air box lid, the bike is standard Honda, but the difference in the bike's performance is instantly noticeable. Massive improvement in throttle response in all gears and just changes the whole engine power delivery, torque as well. I wanted more low down power for trail riding, so wasnt interested in top end speed, but on the road in 5th or 6th, the bike keeps pulling and provides 'wide grin factor'. Sure it would be amazing with supermoto set up ! Highly recommended without any other changes, but K&N, remove filter box snorkel, change sprockets to 13/ 42T along with the EJK then my CRF 250 is getting more use than the Aprilia Tuono RSV4 !!!

    as advertised-Easy Install but unless you have very small Hands you will have to loosen Gas tank & lift it up a bit this gives you plenty room-I did it with K&N filter+air box Snorkle mod + Delveki Exhaust-Really woke it up-Stage one mods are what it comes preprogramed with -Works great I never touched the settings it comes with-NOT a Huge boost in power but it now runs crisper with better throttle response-Not cheap but you get what you pay for!!RIDE On !

    Completely brings the bike alive. Much deeper pull, better throttle response. Runs cooler & stronger. I had previously installed a Yoshimura slip- on. The fuel controller & high flow air filter work so we’ll with the muffler. Feels like a different bike. Much more usable port on the trail, not breathless on steep climbs anymore. I pulled out the snorkel & pop screen at the same time as I installed the K&N filter & fuel mix controller as well. This also may contribute to better “breathing”. Enjoying my awakened CRF250L!

    Honda should have these installed from the Factory !!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh ya I guess they can't because it might cause the bike to use a little more dead dinosaurs. ( fossil fuels ) This bike came alive !!!!!!! More bottom end After market full pipe and air filter installed and a little lean, now Shazamm !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
