Reviews"Her Powerhouse Vocals Are Still Intact, and to Say She Shines Here Is an Understatement.", "When Maines extends her range, particularly on the soaring and exquisitely sung Jeff Buckley tune 'Lover, You Should’ve Come Over,' it showcases attributes few would have doubted: that Natalie Maines can successfully sing in most styles and as long as the songs are emotionally direct, listeners will connect.", 3 stars out of 5 -- "The album hits its stride with the more spunky material, like Patty Griffin's 'Silver Bell.'"
If you are a Dixie Chicks fan then you have heard Natalie Maines voice, but this solo album isn't a country album. Don't worry she hasn't gone all pop or RnB but she is defo trying something new musically. She does a cover of Pink Floyd's Mother the title track and writes with some of the best songwriters out there...This album came out after the Chicks 2006 multi grammy winning Long way round, while the other two members Marti and Emily brought out an album or two under the name Courtyard Hounds, and since they have reformed for the MMXVI world tour. Some of the songs feel like there's something missing but you realise it's the backing vocals and harmonies of her band mates it took a few listens before I fully appreciated how good the album is,give it a chance,it's worth it!!
