A delightful classic, beautifully restored.
"The Quiet Man" is a totally captivating and romantic film, quite unlike what one usually associates with John Wayne (Westerns, war, etc.). Wayne plays a former US prize fighter who comes to a small Irish town to explore his roots and buy the cottage his mother always loved. He also decides to pursue Maureen O'Hara, in full-out fiery Irish lass mode, but must first earn the permission of O'Hara's overbearing, hard-drinking older brother, roaringly played by Victor McLaglen. The chemistry between the two stars is palpable; John Ford's direction perfect, (winning him an Oscar). The immaculately restored Blu-ray edition makes this film look the best it has probably looked since 1952. A winner worthy of repeat viewings.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
