Great Drive - as advertised (so far). First few days ran a bit warm. So I cooled it everyday for a few hours each day. Seemed to find its comfort zone, after a few days the temps felt cooler down to where I no longer cool it. Seems stable, reliable. Have to look at backblaze too see if this drive is going to last you a month or take a shit.
Seagate makes great drives. But they made one model that was so horrid no one will buy it. The fail rate on it is like so bad it makes all other drives look like Rock stars and they are not. Usually the best drives are HSGT that is Hitachi bought by western digital and they were smart “western D and they left them alone. Crazy noises after a few days of use.
Worked at fine speeds for a hdd, was quiet for a few days, then all of a sudden it started making a very loud scratching noise that I could hear through my headset with fans at max. Great for home network backup solutions
In my 34 year experience working with hard drives Seagate drives outlast the others and even when they're ready to break down there is sifficient warning to back up your data one last time. I'm using it exclusively for my desktop and notebook PCs as well as my Seagate GoFlex Home Network 2.0 setup. Drive made a horrible screeching sound when powered up. Sounded like head contact with the platter Immediately turned it off. Then the ram shipping label would not scan. Hard to drive.
