Rotel vs B&K
The Rotel rb-990bx sounds clearer and less strained than the b&k ex-440. Though both are rated at 200 wpc, the rotel some how sounds as if it has more power. But the rotel has a bent back, as if someone rested it on it's back. No other damage was seen. Excepting that if you put your ear close to the midrange, there is a faint buzz, a common characteristic of older power amps, my audio tech friend says. Nothing to worry about. Great amplifier, made music listening a joyful experience
Have read a great deal how the right amplifier makes a world of difference, but when actually experience it first handI was still unprepared for the awesome improvement that happened. Music became richer, full of depth, and engulfs my living room. I'm using the amp to power my two front Polk LSi9 speakers.
