The Sony TA-N55ES power amplifier is solidly constructed and has detailed sound. The two channel amplifier can power two speakers at the same time, or the two channels can be bridged together to provide more output to one dedicated channel. You can connect this Sony TA-N55ES to a variety of audio equipment, including a video game player, music system, or home theater gear. You can also connect it to your surround sound speakers. It works with a variety of media, including DVD, compact disks, Blu-ray, and MP3 audio files.This Sony TA-N55ES amp has a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. It has 4 ohms resistance when both channels are driven, and this amp also features less than 0.01% total harmonic distortion. This means that when you are listening to your favorite music, you can get total clarity of sound. The bass notes are crisp and clear and the treble notes are distinct and powerful. You can set up the low bass filter to make sure that only the deepest notes are sent to your subwoofers. Its additional interior components include audio capacitors, power MOSFETs, and choke coils for an optimal listening experience.These Sony amps have smoothing caps that are 63 V/12,000µF for the balanced distribution of sounds. It is 110 watts per channel in stereo or 300 watts in mono. It has an output control and can be directly hooked up with an iPod. It was made to accompany the TAE-1000ESD Dolby-Pro Logic preamplifier and could be complemented by the small TA-N110 as well. Audio outputs include banana plugs jacks, raw speaker cable jacks, and stereo L/R RCA.The product is built on a sturdy, Gibraltar style base. For circuitry protect, it contains a great heat sink. This black heat sink keeps the sensitive electronics cool, even after hours of use. Its four legs lift it up about 1 inch from the bottom of a shelf or table surface to help keep air circulating underneath. It also has an interior temperature controlling unit that reduces outputs if it detects too high of a temperature, allowing your song to continue playing. The styling of this amplifier features a sleek, smooth plastic exterior with interior metal framing. It has chrome detailing and lettering on its face. The face includes the familiar Sony logo. On the front of this product, you will be able to adjust the speaker output settings to left, right, both, or off. The front controls also include alternation from 1 to 10. The controls are ergonomically designed dials that click into position for easy adjustments. You can also change the amplifier's mode of use from protection to stereo or mono. This amplifier measures 18 inches long by 14.2 inches wide by 4.8 inches tall and weighs about 4 pounds. With top and back venting, you have multiple installation options for setting it up with your home entertainment system. Good deal under $150, look elsewhere if you have more to spend
Too much noise. When these were new I'm sure they were pretty quiet but on sensitive speakers you can hear a slight hiss from the tweeters. Most old amplifiers do this so it's not a deal breaker just know it won't sound like a modern amp. Muscle wise it delvers and sounds really good with everything I put through it. Sounds stronger than it is, it could be rated lower than it actually puts out. If can get one for under $150 I say go for it but there way better amps if you have $300 to spend, Emotiva and others deliver really good value and sound for the money in this range.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
