These old balance beam scales from the 1970s are the bomb!
I used these for 30 years in the printing industry for mixing ink colors. I was pleased to find this one in working order. There isn't much to go wrong...no electronics. It's far better than the cheap Chinese made battery operated scales and or spring powered plastic junk. It was a little corroded from age, with a bit of rust, but everything works great. I used it to weigh a small tank of propane and it was spot on. The scale was missing 3 of the optional weights that facilitate 5 pounds, but that was an easy fix. I bought ten dollars worth of fishing lead and fabricated the missing weights.
came with the three weights. it is in excellent shape. I'm using it to mix up ceramic glazes.
A digital scale that is equally as accurate is more expensive, and needs batteries. I opted for this scale since it does not require batteries and does not have any electronic components that can fizzle out. Inevitably, if i went digital, I would need new batteries in the middle of a glaze mixing.
