The first expansion pack for EA's popular World War II shooter focuses on the conflict's Italian and Sicilian campaigns. Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome adds six new maps, including locations based on the battles for Anzio and Monte Cassino, as well as Operation Husky.<br><br>The expansion's eight new vehicles include German BF-110 and British Mosquito twin-engine fighter-bombers, an Italian torpedo boat, and British and German tanks. Two new forces, the French legionnaires and Italian military, are featured in this add-on as well. <br><br>While the focus of Battlefield 1942 is on multiplayer action, with up to 64 combatant in the same game, this add-on, like the original, also features a single-player mode. Solo games in Road to Rome are unscripted but boast improved AI, for a different challenge each time they're played. Like most expansion pack's, a full installation of the main game is required for play.
