Great for the price
I was looking to convert several hundred (maybe thousand) slides and negatives. I bought this unit even though it had mixed reviews. It seems to fit my needs just fine. I am not expecting to make large, high quality prints. I want digital versions of my media to have backups, to share, and to make for easy viewing. Not a good solution
This machine is pretty simple to use, but I found that the slides appear out of focus, the resolution is 5 megapixel maximum, that's like a camera from 15 years ago. The menus use icons that at first are ambiguous until you test them to figure out what they are. Nobody seems to know how to shut the thing off, it turns off by folding the screen down. When you lift the screen up at turns back on. It appears that you need to have a fresh SD card, you cannot take an SD card that you already have and use that. It doesn't appear to have any way to locate files in a section of the SD card that has not been written on previously. So I would not recommend using an SD card with important information on it. You need to use an SD card that is blank and formatted to this machine. If you have any of the older slides that have decorated paper around the borders, sometimes the decoration will full this machine into continuing across to your slide. I put in a Kodak slide that had something akin to Blue tiger stripes around the edges, the machine put a blue line across the middle of my slide. At first I thought the machine had a bad camera, but then the next slide that had a white border came out fine. That's when I realized it was the tiger stripes on the paper border that was causing this machine to add a blue line across the lower half of my slide. This machine has a fixed Focus, my machine in particular is not in focus. Every single slide that I put through came out blurry.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Good Value - Works Great!
It takes a little time to figure it out, but it works great and fairly fast for a small unit. There is a little loss with the transfer, but Irfanview® takes care of any loss in color. I was able to copy several rolls of 35mm negatives in pretty short order. Once transferred to JPEG files, they can be manipulated, cropped, made positive or whatever quite easily. I would definitely recommend the product with boxes of 35mm slides and negatives laying around. Probably the best thing about the unit is that it brings back digital memories of bygone days from old 35mm photos, long abandoned...Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

No focus control means some slides will come out clear., some not so clear.
If you have ever used a slide projector you will remember having to adjust occasionally because the slide position will change in the paper holder. Ok if only requirement is to get a medium quality image onto a digital device.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

Easy to Use with Great Results
Scanner works exactly as described. I was surprised how great the scans were - very clear and sharp! My family was as surprised as I was that it worked so well! Would have bought one a long time ago. For all of that, though, it is tedious to insert each strip of negatives and go through the process BUT the alternative is to have someone else do for a bundle of cash!
