Has all the features I wanted

This is the only budget MP3 player I could find with playing styles, (rock, jazz etc,) and all modes (shuffle, repeat etc) that I wanted. As such a full SD card or USB pen can play your music all day randomly and sound fresh every time. Quality powerful sound with radio and alarm.

  • Most critical review

Nice on the eye but limited functionality

Nice looking piece of kit but difficult to set alarm properly as instructions are poor . Blue backlight doesn’t stay on so if you want to see the time at night you have to manually flick a switch or use remote. Doesn’t pick up a lot of radio stations but the ones it does sound crisp and clear. On plus side you don’t have to leave it plugged in so it’s portable and you get around four hours playing time before it needs charging. It has an internal rechargeable battery the clock takes two normal batteries so that if the radio batteries cut out the clock keeps the time. You can use the clock/radio plugged in if you want to avoid having to recharge the internal battery. As a clock/ radio it is limited because at night you have to switch the back light on to view the time but if you don’t mind doing that it’s okay.

  • Can't change radio alarm volume!

You can't change the alarm volume! This is shockingly poor - it's a basic function of a radio alarm! Hence why I gave it a 1 star - a radio alarm clock missing normal functionality It's set on loud (vol7). It will wake the whole house (and prob the neighbours aswell) Very disappointed as I get up at least an hour before the wife n kids. Such a shame 'cause it's a neat little radio. It has great capabilities for the price of it. It came so well packaged; batteries, remote, cables etc. It all screamed quality (pity it screams at you to wake up as well) Only other bad point is figuring out how to program it radio alarm and set radio stations. I got there eventually but defo helps to read online manual All things considered this is actually a 'portable speaker with alarm capabilities' rather than the advertised 'alarm clock with added functions'

  • A surprise in a cube

I wanted a mains powered MP3 player so that I could enjoy my MP3 collection via a USB or SDHC card. I didn't care about FM radio or Alarm features but they came with the package. The first place I looked wanted £30 & would NOT ship to N Ireland. I was crushed because this was the only device I had found to date that met my needs. I scrolled on down the listings & found the exact same player for £17 & it was shipped to N Ireland & in my hands in less than 30 hours!!! I read all the reviews on this player & found only one issue that I was not happy with. The SDHC card did not seem to like this player. There were no limits to the amount of data the player would accept so I had nearly 8 GIG of music on the card. Next day & switched to a USB 16 GIG stick, with 8 GIG of music, & the unit liked that & played almost continuously in Shuffle Mode for the 137 hours I was on the indoor job site. It resides in my DIY shed at the moment & does a fine job there, also. Battery life on continuous play is about 5 hours. The AAA batteries save the clock settings. Yes - the buttons are a bit stiff but you will soon realize that the button is hinged on the right side & pushes very nicely on the left side. Another issue I found was that the power plug fits nicely into the headphone socket. I didn't pay attention to the layout & one is right beside the other. No harm was done & that's how I found out how long the battery lasted! The remote control unit works OK but I have no need of it. Yes - the Off-On switch is on the back. Get used to it! The unit at £17 is an excellent buy & a few quirks may be expected. It is no harder to program than your average smart phone. I had no luck finding any reference to what the external data size limit is recommended. My MP3 music is in folders by artist & song title & the Shuffle feature was happy enough to Shuffle from folder to folder. I have had the player for 2 months now & am very satisfied with the purchase at the £17 price.

  • Great sound. Value for money product.

I was looking for an mp3 radio alarm clock and I found this British product claiming great sound. I have to admit that the sound for the size of the unit is really great and at hight volume. Only drawback some vibrations comming out of the box or speakers at high volumes. It has also temperature sensor which is accurate. Radio function is good with average sensitivity (I have bad reception in my area). It can read sd cards and USB sticks with no issues. The mp3 playback is good for waking up in the morning with your favorite song and for random or concecutive playing since the is no folder structure or file name to see. All mp3 files are represented by a number from 1 to the last number of total files included. For large number of songs it is not practical to use. Besides the lithium battery for playback it has 2 AAA batteries for clock memory. Some button combinations are not practical but the remote control saves the day. It should have had the ability to change the volume when the alarm clock is on (if you press the volume button you snooze) and finally it should have had the option for the back-lit of the screen to always be on. As a final conclusion except some small drawbacks it is a unique product with nothing else close to its abilities price range and sound quality.

  • Universal radio/Mp3 player with good sound and extra features

Great player with thermometer, clock, alarm, radio, internal recharged battery (for use without a power), remote control. All of it for a really great price. The sound is better than you can expect from the compact size of the player.

  • brilliant little clock radio radio or music from your usb or memory sd card

brilliant little alarm clock radio, i use the USB stick function waking up to Pink Floyd, good sound low or loud as you want, cannot give info about battery life as it permanently plugged into mains, but for the price well worth the money

  • Splendid little device at a good price.

Small good looking mains operated bedside clock radio with battery back up for clock. Good sound and volume from twin speakers. USB and SD card input facility to mp3 player for music and audio books listening. All easily operated from provided remote control. Auxiliary input jack and cable to connect phone etc. for output through speakers. (Not tried). Only shortcoming - Would have liked an output socket for private (earphone) listening.

  • Disappointing

A lot about this product was pretty solid; the construction felt fairly sturdy, the faux wood effect didn't look too bad, useful spare cables supplied, display illumination switches off automatically which is good if using as an overnight alarm. Radio quality isn't great, sound quality is ok. Battery performance seems ok. For me, biggest disappointment is the lack of control you have over the functionality. I got this to use as an mp3 alarm clock, wanting to play one or another MP3 track as a wake-up alarm. However, you can't really control the playback of MP3s in alarm mode at all; you'll just get a fixed 3 minutes of the first MP3 it finds, and that's it. Basically means it's not fit for purpose for what I wanted. Pity, as it could have been a great product it had been a bit more configurable.

  • Modern look at a cheap price

Great clock radio for the price. It looks great and has a great sound for the size. I marked it down as I cannot seem to set my alarm using the radio setting. Instead I have to set the alarm using the normal beep then change it to radio once I’ve switched it off
