Compact router with good wireless coverage
If you want more control and more facilities from your router then getting one with DD-WRT (or one of the other open router operating systems) is a great way to go. If you know anything about setting up routers or are willing to do a modicum of online reading it is easy to use. A minor technical note is that you may only be able to use HTTP access for managing the router and not HTTPS due to old netgear certificates. This does not really affect the security of your home network unless you want to manage the router from remote locations. Altogether a very good value and flexible solution.
