Now, the more time Arthur spends in his client's crumbling estate, the more aware he becomes of a presence that isn't quite human. In this house dwells a woman's ghost. Until she does, her spectral presence will serve as a harbinger of doom, always to be followed by the death of an innocent.
ReviewsEmpire - Check behind the doors. Switch on all the lights. You won't be sleeping soundly for a while., Time Out New York - The mostly dialogue-free middle section is a scare-film master class - and when a becalmed smile does finally cross his lips, it's in the most giddily mordant of circumstances. As Arthur embraces the darkness, so does the darkness embrace us., Hollywood Reporter - "No Country for Young Kids" would be just as suitable a title for THE WOMAN IN BLACK, a hoot of an old-fashioned British horror film., Charlotte Observer - In rare cases û and THE WOMAN IN BLACK is one of them û a story may be more atmospheric when less is left to the imagination.

  • Heavier going than I had hoped

Heavier going than I had hoped. I think a 3.5* would be a bit nearer the mark. I'm being unduly generous giving it a 4. Un-necessaily complicated. Difficult to keep to the story line but I liked the ending walking along the railway track as a family. At least his wee boy was not killed by the train.
