I love, love, love this book... Truly scrumptious recipes for an amazingly wide variety of cakes. And being Marian Keyes, she can turn even the dullest, driest recipe into a piece you enjoy reading. I got this book about a month ago and I haven't stopped making cakes. Each one is simply delicious. Having been thru' depression myself, I found Marian's account to be honest and moving. Also, I loved the relaxed approach she takes to her recipes... She isn't too precious about the ingredients she uses...she allows for flexibility. I bought this book both as a diehard fan of Keyes, and as a person who loves baking. I have not been disappointed on either count. This is one cookbook that is going to fall apart thru' constant usage.. thanks Marian.
This is a brilliant book, have already made rock cakes and the Victoria sponge and they were absolutely delicious. I plan to make the buttermilk scones next. The recipes are easy to understand, the items needed easy to find in shops and Marian Keyes brings her usual humour to this book and I thoroughly empathise with her reasons for writing this. One of my favourite baking books.
