Well written and well paced, and should be read in order with the others in the series. I have not played the games but I have enjoyed reading the novels. Bowden is a good story teller although sometimes his use of modern cliches in what are past times jars a little. I'm not sure I buy into the Templars vs Assassins idea but it is plausible and logical within the confines of the stories. I do like the idea of ancient artefacts having been left behind for future assassins to operate, and the conflict between the two factions to find and control them. Very good even if you do not play the games.
