Great stereo!
This stereo was well-packaged, with solid fitted Styrofoam on the bottom and copious amounts of bubble wrap winding around and between the three main pieces. When I opened it, it looked brand new. I set it up and tested it, and everything works. The sound quality and FM reception are great, and you can adjust the treble and bass levels. I should mention that the speaker wires have a plug on the end instead of bare wire, so you can't attach additional wire and have the speakers on opposite ends of a room. On the other hand, my old stereo had bare speaker wires and one speaker stopped working completely, so maybe the plug is better. Great experience!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Good sound if you do not use extension for speakers, but FM tuner is of poor quality
I ended up returning this item because it did not meet our needs. Sound quality is reasonably good and powerful if speakers are connected directly to the base without extension wires. I tried to extend the distance using about 40 feet of 16 (or maybe even 14) guage speaker wire, but lost a lot of the higher frequencies in the process. The amp simply was not capable of driving the speakers well with the extended speaker wires. The FM tuner only works with local stations with a steady strong single. Even less expensive boom boxes generally have better reception. I believe the coaxial antenna connector is a PAL type (i.e. European) connector rather than an F-type connector that is standard in the U.S. The FM antenna that is included is simply a length of wire that connects to the center conductor of the connector. I asked Sharp support what type of connector it was so that I could connect a higher gain connector. There response verbatim: "...we wouldn't have any recommendations or information available in regards to using any antennas other then the antennas that are provided with this audio system. So do I recommend this system? Yes if you are happy with keeping the speakers close to the base unit and you only need it for nearby FM stations.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Just like new and saved money too!
This stereo system was open box but you would never know. It looked like it just was manufactured. Very simple to set up and use. Great sound quality with xbass or without. Good design having stacked cds. It only displays the time when you press clock button but it's not a problem since most people have clocks in their homes. I would recommend this stereo system for anyone who has limited space but is looking for big sound. GOOD UNIT...except for FM tuner.
I've have a couple of these units, and the ONLY gripe I have is that the FM tuner sucks! I can't pull in stations that I easily pull in with other units. And the PAL 75ohm connector is a pain. I had to purchase a couple of 75 ohm adapters to PAL adapter connectors. Even with the purchase of a Terk Amplified Antenna...ZILCH!! Even with an FM amplifier, it's a pain! I have to throw around the dipole antenna every now and then to pull in my stations, and leave it where it lays!!. This just ain't right!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

As a 30+ year old electronic tech. Sharp has always made average quality stereo, base on there construction compared to other brand. On this particular unit I could see that the PWM is not that bad for service as well for the radio section, with the use of a service manual, but as far for the CD section goes, they leftout completly. This recondition product arrived in great shape. I have the newer version of this product but this one has several features that I like. The price was the selling point. I wanted a cd changer and this was cheeper than a stand alone changer. So far so good!

Sharp Stereo
Good stereo. The only problem I have with it, placing cd's in the random function. It only plays random on one cd at a time, then moves to another cd after the first one is finished. 5 disc CD player / Sharp
Hard to find one that works well. This on does and comes with a garentee. It is obvious that the cd trays are fragile and need to be used carefully. But after saying this I really do like it. I bought it for my blind mother who enjoys listening to music and her old country cd's. It arrived well packed and in a timely manner. Took me a bit to read directions but figured it out. GOT SKUNKED
Received this stereo today. First of all, the components were just placed in the box and shipped. No packaging whatsoever. The fiberboard housing on both the speakers had major chunks out of them. The CD trays were all whacked out...half in, half out, and would not move. The receiver kept cutting in a out on a strong fm signal.
