Compact and lightweight, this shoe-mount flash is ideal for transporting when shooting on location. High power makes Metz flash useful for balancing sunlight during outdoor shoots, but it is also functional for soft lighting in indoor use. The Metz Mecablitz 40 MZ-3i has a unique body design, which allows for easy mounting on a light stand for shooting with a soft box or an umbrella. Head tilts vertically from -13 to 90 degrees and rotates horizontally a full 270 degrees. Power can also be reduced to 1/256 for soft-light shooting. The guide number is 40/ISO 100 at 50 mm. Also useful as a modeling light, this shoe-mount flash comes with a stroboscopic function. A zoom head has a range of 20-105 mm. Operating on four AA batteries or by external battery pack, this Metz flash comes with a wide-angle diffuser for close-up shots. All flash function controls are conveniently located on the back of the flash. Metz Mecablitz 40 MZ-3i works with different types of cameras, including Canon, Nikon, Mamiya, Leica, and other cameras using SCA modules.
