If you run a skimmerless marine tank then this item is indispensable
If you run a skimmerless marine reef tank then this item is indispensable. It is the only way I know to remove organics and other pollutants other than large and expensive water changes. The colour changes let you know what is being removed and when the ion exchange medium is exhausted. It seems expensive at first glance, but when you consider the value of the livestock it protects then it is good value. It will obviously work on all other aquatic systems as well, but I do not have direct experience of its value in those circumstances compared to other alternatives. For example, water changes on freshwater tanks are a lot cheaper assuming that you have a reverse osmosis system running..Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
