    Brilliant kit

I used this on my sons Peugeot 207 headlights as they were yellowed so the light wasn't coming through the lenses properly and was only coming through at around 15 to 20 % rate from new to how they were before using the kit. Using the kit is extremely easy to use and I just watched the video before use to not get it wrong and they are now like new so much so that before use even in sunlight you couldn't see the bulbs, I went out last night to have a look at them and even at 11pm you could see the bulbs with ease. Totally like new now and only takes a couple of hours at the most to do the pair.

    Awful product

Followed the instructions step by step and ended up with product leaving my light damaged and dull.. it said if the lights still dull repeat previous steps as I did and made no difference I don’t know how this product works but didn’t work for me and now I have 1 very dull scratched light. Picture of proof provide below.

  • 3M Headlight Restoration Kit

Excellent product. Was going to replace my headlights before. Easy to use plenty of disks. My lights were so bad we did them twice came up amazing. Amused neighbours did wonder what we were doing with a cordless drill in-front of the car and wondered over to have a look! Don’t know how long it will last but would definitely buy again if I needed in the future to do so.

  • It works.

After some bird deposited on one of my headlights it had the same effect as if left on paint. Three small areas under the deposit were opaque. On top of the housing, not the front, not affecting the light, but unsightly. I used my own masking tape in spite of a small roll supplied in the kit. Following the instructions fully the end result is excellent. There are instructional videos on Youtube too. I only used two of the 500 grit discs and two 800 grit. Cordless drill on slow speed. It's essential to use water when using the "foam" 3000 grit disc. I used a hand sprayer continuously. Don't apply pressure and keep the drill moving across the surface for each stage. Prior to the polish there's just a misty surface remaining on the plastic which miraculously disappears at the end. My only criticism is that there's possibly not enough polishing compound supplied. For restoring two headlights I think there should be more because it's difficult to judge how much to use for each.

  • Great product, easy to use.

Great product, very scary until you get to the final stage as until then you have frosted headlights. I would definitely recommend it and use it again. I applied a fine spray of water to all stages which seemed to help although the instructions only suggest doing this at the end. Make sure you mask and cover the paintwork or it will end up splattered in the polish (which does was off easy enough)

  • Amazing transformation of old headlights

The kit comprises : 6x 500 grit (medium) dry velcro held sanding disks 4x 800 grit (fine) dry velcro held sanding disks 1x 3000 grit (very fine) dry velcro held sanding disks 1x extremely fine polishing velcro held sponge for use with polishing paste 1x Polishing paste 1x Velcro disk holding tool for use in a variable speed drill. 1x Reel high quality masking tape 1x Instructions I had two front head lights of a MkV 2005 Vauxhall Astra. They were yellowed and patchy, It looked like some kind of clear coating was deteriorating on the headlights and with an MOT due soon I was wondering if they would pass. See the before and after images attached. Its essential to use the tape to protect your body work. Plenty of tape is supplied so don't skimp on protection. Lucky, with an Astra, you can protect the bonnet paintwork by opening it up. Wash the lights well with water & fairy liquid first and dry with kitchen roll. You have to start with the 500 grit. Don't be tempted to rush and use high speed on the drill, or press down too hard, as I thought this could cause hot spots and perhaps melt the headlight plastic and this would be disastrous. If the plastic is getting hot then stop, wait for it to cool and use a lower speed. I found it difficult to gauge progress as the old yellowed layer could only be seen as faint patches. I concentrated on these until they disappeared but didn't go overboard on it. I used up one 500 grit disk on each headlight. I washed the headlights. Although clear when wet, as they dried, they went dull with a uniform milky appearance. Obviously in that state that would be a certain MOT failure so I had to go on now! Then I went down to the 800 grit and I could see the dullness changing to a relatively clearish appearance. Some yellow patches were still apparent and I had to go back and repeat those bits with the 500 grit. At this point the headlights were almost clear after a wash and dry. Again I used one 800 grit disk per headlight. Then I used the 3000 grit disk. The headlights gradually became clearer and clearer but did not look anything like the clearness of a new headlight. I thought ah well at least it is much much better than the yellow dull things that they were. I found that one 3000 grit disk was not enough as it began to fall into pieces during work on the second headlight and I worried it might do some damage, so I had to stop. That was annoying since I had used so few of the other coarser disks. After the 3000 disk the headlights looked fairly clearish but you still could tell they were oldish. Lastly I used the polishing sponge with the rubbing (polishing paste) compound. This was very satisying. The lights just kept getting clearer and clearer until eventually they actually looked brand new! (See images attached). This last stage was an amazing transformation as up to then I was getting worried. I'm very pleased with the results. Even If it only lasts a year or two I could just polish a bit more. The one bugbear only one 3000 grit disk is provided. At least 2 is needed per headlight then I would have given it 5 stars

  • Complete package with easy instructions with fantastic results

Although a bit daunting to take a drill and sandpaper to your headlights, it is certainly worth it. If you follow the well laid out instructions, the results are simply breathtaking. My headlights have gone from hazy 15 years old to looking pristine, in less than one hour. Compared to the cost of buying and fitting new lights the savings are huge, in time and money. I would certainly recommend this product.

  • It'll do! (not in a Yorkshire way though!!)

Actually its not better than I expected The lens was still slightly misty once I had finished, but I wondered if that was on the inside of the lenses, or right through the material and therefore not removable However most people wouldn't notice. Its still very good. It was also difficult to judge how far to go before moving on to the next stage, and how much of the compound to use and still save enough for the other headlight as it is in a sachet and you cant tell how much you have used or how much is left

  • Amazing Kit

Literally amazing. I’d seen videos online and had attempted sanding my lenses myself without success, and wondered how this would be any different. Boy was I wrong. The photos speak for themselves (16 year old Mini). You’re paying for a well honed bit of kit that has clearly been researched and refined.

  • 3m headlights restoration kit

Fantastic product, left my ugly yellowed headlights looking like new! Extremely easy to use, all instructions contained within- and plenty of videos of this product in action on YouTube. I had never restored a set of headlights before, but the lights on my new car just annoyed me so much I had do something! I would confidently do it again with the 3m kit- the results speak for themselves! Great product.
