Does what it says on the box - use mobile voice minutes through cordless handsets
For my use LiGo is a fantastic find. I have a cheap line only landline deal for my broadband - no included minutes, so making voice calls on the landline are mega expensive per minute. My mobile phone package offers me unlimited voice calls for much less. I have a number of cordless phones in the house. What I wanted to do is allow all my cordless phones dotted about the house to use my single mobile phone with unlimited minutes. Enter LiGo.
LiGo shares my mobile phone connection with the existing cordless phones. The LiGo doesn't need a landline. So I place the LiGo where I have power and a good mobile signal. Pair the mobile with the LiGo just like I do in the car, and unplug the cordless base station from the phone wall socket and plug the lead into the LiGo - done! I can now pick up any of the cordless phones in the house and make calls as though I'm still using the landline. All the time charging the mobile.
Better still because my landline socket is nearby I can also connect the LiGo to the landline as well as the mobile. This way I can still receive calls on the landline, through my cordless phones and choosing which way I want to dial out - mobile or landline.
By default the LiGo will default to ringing out using the landline, but by using the redial function I can chose to dial via the mobile. Alternatively by unplugging the landline connection the LiGo automatically just uses the mobile phone.
I think the LiGo is a version of the XLink Communication Hub - which is at least twice as expensive - XLink have a MS Windows only set-up program. I am not allowed to provide direct links but I found it through "googling" "XLINK Communication Hubs" then look for software updates or look for myxlink. This program allows a PC to change the LiGo's internal settings. The software update bit of the software doesn't work with the LiGo. Using the set-up tool you can set the LiGo to default to dialling out on the mobile connection rather than the landline. I read that some - mostly BT phones it appears - have issues using the redial function. This can be corrected in a lot of cases using the set-up tool.
I have a BT2500 cordless, a Gigaset C475 and a BT Granite 1100 cordless phones. All but the BT1100 work straight out of the box. As the BT 1100 is an old cordless phone compatible with almost no other cordless system I haven't bothered to try and figure out why it wont play nice.
Incoming calls on the mobile ring all the cordless handsets and shows who is ringing - CLI. The cordless handsets are able to pick up the mobile voicemail or dial the mobile speed dial numbers.
My mobile is an iPhone 4S. It found the LiGo bluetooth and paired without any issues. For a while I had the iPhone in a room next to the room with the LiGo. So long as it was in range, it paired, and had no issues with sound quality even using bluetooth through the wall.
When I go out with the mobile the LiGo's blue "paired" light flashes slowly to show it has lost the link. As soon as the mobile is back in range the two pair up straight away without any issues. It really is that painless.
The only issue to date I have noticed is if I try to answer a call on the mobile while it is still connected - in bluetooth range - to the LiGo. In this instance the mobile will answer the call but then almost immediately the call is dropped. I think what is happening is the mobile receives the call first, I answer it, by which time the LiGo has tried to patch it through to the cordless phones, so the mobile drops the call it no longer has, which I think the LiGo then thinks the call has dropped and terminates the patch through to the cordless phones. My solution in this situation is to always answer the mobile call on the cordless handsets and not on the mobile or move the mobile out of bluetooth range of the LiGo before answering it on the mobile.
For me and at the moment it does what it said on the box. Of course time will tell. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others.
