These are great powerfull flashes but you must be carefull not to put on a modern camera as the voltage on the cable is 200v + so will damage modern Cameras ..ok for use with an optical trigger. The other problem is the battery pack ..if you can get a holder for the 6 cells its great but original nicd batteries will be well buggered by now .

This professional flash was pretty expensive when new and was the most powerful integral flash which Metz made - there was a model with a guide number 60 but this had a separate power pack. Today it seems to be quite easy to find a Metz 45 in great working order for £15-£20. There is as far as I know no way of interfacing this with modern cameras to get full TTL functionality, although a simple connection is of course possible. I have bought three of these flashes for experimentation and intend using them out of doors with slave cells to illuminate large areas– For this, they are ideal.

This flash is one of the classic models from Metz, and one of the most powerful of the line. It's a very well made flash, a bit too heavy to be used everyday, but with a good battery life with rechargeable batteries. Its performance is impressive, the GN is 45. It's a flash for film cameras, as it has a discharge voltage too high for many digital cameras to handle.
I have had one of these previously, this one like the is excellent too.
