I have used several of these units over 80000 miles of driving my 1973 VW T2 camper van. They provide more stable ignition timing than using points. However they do seem to suffer from a limited lifespan of about 30000 miles, probably under stress from the ignition coil I have fitted (Bosch Blue Mexico) and end up producing misfiring.. one acted as a rev limiter and the most recent one lost control of the dwell angle and started misfiring. Initial fixing in a Bosch 205 distributor required filimg of the base plate to miss a case fixing screw and an ignition advance baseplate guide. Shown in picture. I will I recommend it because it is cheaper than Pertronix, and works as well.

Needed a bit of fetteling to fit correctly. Cut out on the base plate was to shallow to clear part of the distributor. Had to use my Dremel to grind back the cut out slightly. Now fits perfectly and works a treat.
