  • Good stuff!!

Good stuff. I use it as a pre emergent in the early spring and for spot treatment throughout the growing season as needed. Some weeds you see same day results and others no more than a week to turn color and die off. For tough weeds, sometimes a second spot treatment is needed after 7 days of the initial treatment for a permanent kill. Get a good surfactant, follow the mixing directions and you should get the desired results. My lawn is all Bermuda, Im in GA and on about an acre. I have used Drive in established areas, on new sod and newly seeded spots (actually treated area one day before over seeding) and it did not affect the growth of my lawn. It has killed all weeds that plague GA lawns. 4 stars because the price has risen (overall) since I purchased my last batch. 5 stars for effectiveness of ridding my lawn of unwanted weeds, as a pre emergent and not putting stress on my lawn as other products have. If you are on the fence, make the purchase. Outside of fertilizer, this is the only product that I have used for weed treatment since 2011.

  • Post-emergence control of my regions crabgrass & other bad grasses with out damage to Seashore Paspalum.

Post-emergence control. Safely eliminates / kills my regions crabgrass & other bad grasses with out any damage to Seashore Paspalum, Bermuda or Zosia El Toro. Spot spraying is OK & does not leave damaged spots, Only leaves dead crabgrass that disappears and the spots fill back in with the good grass. Most types of crabgrass in my region die from the first application. Other bad grasses mixed in that are too much to dig up (St. Augustine and other) can take two or three applications to eliminate. But they go away and leaves a pristine Seashore Paspalum lawn. If not killed the first time, The leaf tips of the bad grasses will be red in color after a couple weeks. This is proof it is working. I usually wait 3 to 4 weeks to respray as needed.

  • not impressed

This year I was late putting down my crabgrass pre-emergent. As a result, I have some raging crabgrass trying to take over my Bermuda lawn. So I was looking for something that would kill the crabgrass, and not kill my Bermuda. Years ago I would use MSMA to control crabgrass, but thanks to some extreme tree-huggers it's no longer available. I read some raving reviews about Drive XLR8 on the internet, so I decided to try it. I ordered a bottle along with MSO to go along with it, because according to the label, this stuff doesn't work without MSO... My question to the producers is, if you have to use another product to make yours effective, why don't you sell them together?? To me that's a no-brainer! Ok, Back to the review: So when the products arrived I read the label, and applied it just as it is described. After a couple of days I noticed my bermuda lawn starting to lose its green color, and a little bit of the crabgrass starting to turn purple (the color crabgrass turns before it dies). Two weeks after the application I looked at the lawn, and honestly there may have been a 5% kill rate on the crabgrass, and the bermuda was tan and stressed, At that point I decided to try another application of Drive XLR8 on the front yard only, and I switch to Image on the back yard. I just wanted to compare the two, just to see how well each worked. One week after my 2nd application of XLR8, the front yard bermuda was extremely yellowed and streaked, but the crabgrass is still there. The back yard (treated with Image) had a much better kill rate of crabgrass, and was NOT as stressed as the front. I will not waste my money on XLR8 again. I will stick with another product. And next year I will make sure and get 2 applications of pre-emergent down way before the soil temp gets to 70 degrees (when crabgrass germinates)!! I would not recommend this product for anyone in the southeastern part of the US with bermuda. Maybe it works better on other turf grasses? Or maybe it works better in different parts of the country? But I was not impressed on my Bermuda lawn, located in Alabama.

  • Kills the Crabgrass

I use this on my commercial properties where crabgrass is a problem. It worked better than expected. Be sure to read the label as it is not safe for St Augustine, but if used as directed, it's very effective in wiping out the crab grass & broadleaf.
