Firstly this is a great bit of tech, well made, reliable and relatively easy to install; if you know how. The hard bit (and this is not Hawk's fault) is getting the know-how. I've fitted 2 of these kits now. A 2004 fiat Punto using Haynes wiring diagram and online video help, and a 2005 Suzuki Alto using prayer and blind faith. The lack of any manuals, images or any info on Suzuki wiring was a nightmare and did involve me having to get a second remote Hawk unit after electronically setting fire to the first. In short, great kit, works well, reliable and good range if installed correctly; but do your research first make sure which kit you need and what extras such as fuse plugs, relays, actuators or solenoids you may need as well. Buying a more expensive Hawk kit with these parts included IS cheaper than buying the basic kit and then raiding Halfords for the bits you didn't realise you'd need later. Hawk themselves can be very helpful and helped me out doing the Suzuki explaining which wiring configuration was most likely correct and which bits I was missing. The helpline number is contained in the instruction book. Worth a mention, don't let you keyrings sit against the fob. The buttons can be quite easily pressed and fob batteries seem to last only a few hours. Hang up keys, wake up next morning to a dead remote and a car that was unlocked overnight because you pressed the button indoors without noticing. Batteries are a bit unusual too, not watch type. Overall 5 stars, if installed correctly - A great product but can be complicated to install depending on the vehicle (DO YOUR RESEARCH)Read full review

Sold on the promise of supplying a car-specific wiring schematic. They sent the wrong one. After a lot of back & forth I sent them a colour picture of my wiring. They then admitted they'd sent the wrong one and after "speaking with our technician" sent me another. It was also wrong. I'm guessing their technician is colour-blind. I managed to fit the unit using a schematic I found elsewhere, remote locking works but now the interior lights don't come on when I open the doors (they work otherwise, so it's not a fuse or blown bulbs). What a wonderful bit of kit.

I've had this particular hawk unit in my 1993 Toyota MR2 for many years now 10 years to be exact, just having to replace it now after losing the last of the 2 key fobs I had with it originally. Hawk has served me well, the reliability of this unit is outstanding, the best feature is the distance at which you can unlock and lock your car, many times I've tested how far I can unlock it and I'm right over the other side of the car park and just about see my car and the flashing as it unlocks not even factory installed central locking can do that so it has an impressive range and in the 10 years mine has been installed I've never once installed new key fob batteries. I installed mine myself, the wiring diagram that comes with it is super easy to work out and easy to install in a car providing you have a good set of car diagrams, all the wires I needed luckily ran down the driver's sides fuse box area, it's also pretty good that this unit have a boot release feature unfortunately my cars to old to have this feature but with the help of a hawk lock actuator I was able to fit this in so now one long press on the speaker button on the fob the boot will now release. The new key fobs that come with the V3 hawks are a welcome addition over the old fobs, for a start they are better built and carry a standard button battery and easy to replace if need to, compared to the old fobs they feel a lot better made and rather than the button symbols just painted on they are now raised so won't wear off like the old fobs did, also the new fobs have a much better way of attaching to your car keys the old fobs used to have a chain that always broke where it attaches inside the fob and you would end up losing the fob which is why I've had to buy a new set up both my old fobs are lost so yea this is a much better design. Overall impressed with this unit and glad I was able to buy a replacement that has simply plugged straight into the original wiring connector of my old unit, just proves that if it's still for sale after all these years then it's a good product.Read full review
