NGT Quick Release
Been using one of these on my landing net handle/head. Seems pretty strong, the quick release works fine. I had to put a couple of drops of oil on the sliding collar as it was showing some signs of corrosion, but that’s not surprisingly as it’s constantly getting dipped in the water. Grandslam Quick Release System for Landing Nets & Bank Sticks
There are numerous versions (copies) upon this idea on the market I have found & none it seems are marked with any identification on the product itself. On this note, the product that arrived was not as per the eBay photo, so I have no idea I actually received the Grandslam product. On the assumption I did receive the Grandslam version I can't recommend it. I'm an aerospace mechanical engineer, so know what a well made product should look like. The machining I could see had been done coarsely, so the finish was quite rough compared with competing products, especially internally on the more important interconnecting male / female union. The internal female part had not been deburred (removal of sharp metal edges). The anti-corrosion protective finish which is normally clear anodise for these devices, appeared to be absent, looking like plain machined aluminium colour, though I could be wrong on that one. More importantly, all these competing products are meant to be interchangeable for each male / female component. The Grandslam's female component receiving bore is to small, so won't receive male components from other brands. The Grandslam's male component will fit into other brands female components, though with a sloppy fit, due to its slightly slimmer diameter. I paid for 8 of these devices & found that for about £2 more, one can get the real deal original product (6 off) made by ProLogic. These devices are engineeringly quite trick (sophisticated) for not a lot of money, so to sum up, its really a false economy not to buy the better brand versions, that should be interchangeable with other good brands.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
