Only one out there
This part looks well made but DO NOT over tighten this cap or the top will snap right off leaving you stranded on the lake. The cap is cut too deeply to allow space for the gasket and it leaves the top vunerable to break to easily. You cannot buy just the plastic cap but must pay $50.00 for the new assembly and I found nothing else that will work. When your cap starts to leak, just tighten it to snug or it will break. If it still leaks, buy or make a new gasket and try a snug fit again. Personally, I think this cap is poorly made and someone could make good money outsourcing an after market cap that is stronger. Brass would be nice. I now carry a recycled ketsup bottle top for a spare.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Oil tank level sending unit
The factory cap (as well as this replacement) is a plastic cap with cork gasket and magnetic reed float switch. In order for the oil system to work, the cap needs to be tightened air tight onto the tank opening to prevent oil under pressure venting out of the cap and thereby draining the larger oil reservoir. The cap has vertical ridges around it's vertical portion that encloseds the tank opening's theads to aid in gripping the cap but unfortunatelyalso creates a weak joint where the veritcal threaded portion of the cap transitions to horizontal. By tightening the cap down onto the tank, the joint is placed under stress and can cause the cap to separate at the vertical to horiszontal transition, as mine did. Poor design as the ridges thin the cap material at the weak joint. I plan on adding material with a plastic welder to the outside of the cap at the horizontal-to-vertical transition to strengthen the lid. It is a critical component that should have been built stronger.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
