The only tool for the job but disproportionately pricey
I bought this to replace an identical model which did not have the silicon lead. Fighting a curled-up lead when trying to solder something delicate finally got on my nerves. The flexible, heat-resistant silicon lead is the selling point and makes the job a whole lot easier. It is also disproportionately pricey. Why manufacturer anything else?
