Author BiographyGil served in the 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment until 1974. On leaving, he joined the Royal Military Police (Territorial Army), where he attained the rank of WO1 RSM at Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, Germany, whilst serving for 30 years with the civilian Police Service. He had various duties during that time which included, being a Police Diving Supervisor for the Underwater Search & Recovery Unit, and for the last 15 years as the Principal Technical Officer covering all aspects of technology for the Serious and Organised Crime Unit. He has designed many innovative solutions still used by both the Police and the Army today and received numerous awards for his achievements including the prestigious BBC Television's Tomorrows World Inventor of the Year Award. He was responsible for inventing the first miniature microwave camera system worn by Police and Army search dogs called WOLVES (Wireless Operational Link & Video Exploration System) which locates people in dark and confined spaces. Gil gained a lot of experience working with Police and Military dogs and used that knowledge to write this story through the eyes of the dog. He is now a Trustee of the Airborne Assault Museum at Duxford where he shares his experiences with visitors to the museum and archive of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces.
