i'm impressed
the glass was so clear, and I liked the firedot reticle so much I ordered another leupold scope to replace a ziess scope I had on another rifle. when you look through the scope it is just so clear and bright you can't help but be amazed. I like the reticle with a illuminated dot inside a circle, it draws you'r eye to the target. I wish leupold had made this scope with a true 1power instead of 1.25 so you could shoot with both eyes open. like I said I was so impressed I replaced a brand new scope with another leupold.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I have used Leupold scopes for as long as I can remember. They are super clear, tough and hold their zero. This is a new type. It has the fire dot. Bought this for HOG hunting. Can't wait to try it. Typical bright Leupold optics, even with the 20mm objective. The Firedot is the tiniest dot I've ever seen on a scope - probably 1MOA, compared to the typical 4MOA on other brands. A Game-Changer for Old Eyes
I am a 76-year old competitive High Power Rile shooter who hasn't had much shooting fun in the past three years shooting service rifle or even match rifle with aperture sights. Just could not see, especially at 300 yards or more. This year NRA and CMP allowed use of 1-4.5x x34mm objective, so I thought, why not? Got this Leupold VXR Patrol scope just before the 2016 season started in Indiana, and it is really a game-changer. Found that I didn't really use the firedot because I think that is for CQB or multigun. The turrets are easy to turn, are well marked, and the reticle is GREAT. Bought a bikini scope cover, and a cantilever scope mount, and I am good to go. Last week while setting my 300 yard zero, without staying locked in position, fired a 186-5x. I know that I had been serious about it, could have fired195 or better.....scope is that good. Found that 2X worked better for me at 200, and 3x and 4x for 300 in lower light. Great scope, Extreme confidence in this scope and the Leupold brand.
I have two of these scopes. I buy these scopes and other Leupold scopes because of the over 45 years of experience that I have with Leupold scopes. If you ever need warranty work, Leupold stands behind their product. I have never had an issue with the other scope like this, so it was an easy decision when I needed another scope for another rifle. Great glass, easy to pick up target fast with the Fire Dot, It turns it self on and off automatically and it is MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. What is there not to like? I am 64 years old and I have learned with scopes you get what you pay for. Leupolds are not cheap because they are not cheap scopes. If you are looking for a cheap scope, Leupold is not your choice. A bright clear, easily adjusted, easily mounted scope. great for short carbines like a M4. 1.5 to 4 power is just right for shorter ranges and gives easy target recognition. Lightweight, rugged and extremely bright illumination.
I have owned the 3-9x40 version of this scope for years and is has become my favorite optic. The 1-4x20 version is built to the same quality level and lives up to the Leupold brand name. The best aspect of this scope is the Firedot reticle that is essentially Red Dot bright and aids in quick target acquisition. The Auto off feature means that batteries won't go dead if you forget to turn it off after a range session. While other reticles might be more suited for competition shooting, the VXR Patrol with Firedot is an extremely useful all-around scope that can be used across a wide range of applications, from Target shooting to hunting, or even home defense. Leupold 1.25-4x20 VX-R Hog Firedot Scope
This scope is insanely nice. Extremely clear glass (that’s Leupold for you) and feels like a $1k scope. The reticle looks outstanding and the fire dot is better than an illuminated reticle in my opinion.
