    Beautifully played and Directed

    Howard Shelley's playing is beautiful. Wonderfully lyrical in the quieter moments and suitably strong where the music demands. He caresses the music and the virtuoso elements are played with the music and not the performer in mind. He directs the orchestra with great skill from the keyboard and the orchestral sound is lovely. I was hooked as soon as the first disc (Piano Concerto no.1) played with an exquisite orchestral introduction with great warmth. The other discs don't disappoint and I'm sure this set will bring much pleasure in the coming years.
