Just plug it in and it works.
I plugged the adaptor into the computer's Mini port, plugged my HDMI lead into the adaptor and the monitor worked just fine.No fuss, no bother. It's small enough to easily carry with the laptop. Oh, and the laptop's Mini DP is just a Mini DP, not a Thunderbolt.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Unfortunately this product is very poor quality. I plugged in to the Mac and never touched it again since then. It worked fine for exactly one week, then suddenly broke. I suspect the inner cables are very fragile and poor quality. I can see mixed good and bad reviews with this product so I strongly suggest anyone not to buy it as its functioning is completely random.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Note: Not a thunderbolt connector
Didn't work with my MacBook Air, despite its claim to work for MacBooks. Reading the product blurb again, it does say it's for Mini-display port only, not thunderbolt (which is what the MacBook Air uses); I thought they were compatible but not so.
