The Consort. This native of Durham in Northern England proves to be a brilliant composer, and these concertos (which are believed to be the earliest examples of the Cello Concerto written in Britain) are surely the equal of those produced by Handel.
I'm always pleased to discover a composer that's not so well known as many others, this collection of John Garth's cello concertos is really good, it's bright, well produced & a pleasure to listen to. So I would recommend this CD to anyone who would like to sample this man's work, you will not be disappointed, I wasn't & I will look forward to possibly listening to more of his music in the future. Many thanks.
Previously unaware of John Garth's work or the Avison Ensemble, we found both the compositions and the performances on this disc absolutely delightful. Thank you for making such musical available.
