The product is a CD featuring the complete symphonies and piano concertos of Beethoven, performed by artists Daniel Barenboim and Otto Klemperer. Released by EMI Music Distribution in 2000, this album is a box set containing all the works in a total run time of 39641 seconds. Produced by Suvi Raj Grubb, this classical music collection showcases the style of Beethoven in the genres of concertos and symphonies, capturing his musical genius from the 1950s and 1960s. Perfect for classical music enthusiasts looking to enjoy the complete works of Beethoven in one collection.
Few conductors have in my view captured the soul of Beethoven in the manner that Klemperer has in these recordings. there may be better recordings by Klemperer himself but individually he has the gift to bring complete melodies from a four or five note phrase that other conductors appear to consider nothing more than filler, ways to get from one key to the next. Many seek to create drama in the music by playing it faster. this I suggest is not the way to approach the master. Savour every moment as if it was your last. Klemperer understands this, and his student Barenboim has done well to study with such a gifted master as this. Well worth the investment of your time. But don't forget to give it your attention, you will be amply rewarded.
I'm no expert, by any means, but feel this boxset is very good value, by quality performers and provides a more than good enough introduction to Beethoven's major works.
