Have owned Friends on Video then DVD and now Bluray. Because the series was filmed in 4:3, in order for them to make it 16:9 the picture is zoomed in cropping some of the original video. Once you get used to this its not a problem.

The episodes and stories, plots etc are great for a Friends fan and what you'd expect for a keepsake. But the dreadful picture quality from the transfer to Blu Ray is appallingy bad considering the format. It's very grainy and contrasty, and has been tried on several different BD players with exactly the same result. When you compare this with the picture on Netflix, you see what I mean. The pic quality on the standard def DVD is absolutely rubbish, that's why I went for BD hoping there would be much improvement. Disappointing.
