Three pieces by Franz Danzi, a rather less well known composer of the 18th century
The CD was described as new which was correct. However the CD was a MOD (made on demand) reissue product by Sony Legacy which is not stated. While this did not affect the reproduction of the music from faultless James Galway flute playing and excellent playing by clarinetist Sabine Meyer, it was much inferior to the original RCA release. The insert was simply a sheet advertising the Sony Legacy division. The tracklisting incorrectly describes the contents of the CD. It suggests 9 tracks are on the disc when in fact there are only 7! There is absolutely nothing about the pieces featured or the composer, which would help considering the relatively unknown nature of the material. Very sloppy!!! This was not so on the original RCA release! Summarizing, enjoy the music, some of which is reminiscent of Mozart's music but it is very expensive for the package; try and purchase the original RCA Red Seal product if you can.
