I was looking for a quality recording on these concertos, and having sampled a few I decided on this recording. This album was reasonably priced which was a factor. The orchestra, conductor and pianist work very well together. There is a predictable edge to Brendel’s playing throughout which I find slightly irritating. The orchestra under Rattle sound superb. The interpretation of the concertos are pretty standard with no unexpected surprises. This is now quite an ‘old’ recording and there are more recent ones to explore. This is a quality performance recorded very well. It is definitely well worth a listen.
