Product Information
The Kenwood MC-60A professional desk microphone is the ideal sound pickup device for challenging environments. With a dynamic coil that provides crisp sound response, this microphone is crafted with a heavy (and therefore less mobile) die-cast base, and it includes robust transceivers with excellent ability. The Kenwood MC-60A mic provides a rich and crisp audio response that is a large part of the legendary sound that Kenwood transceiver owners have enjoyed for decades. Classically crafted and finished in a light ash with black trim, the MC60A dynamic unidirectional microphones are built with a heavy die-cast base that really stays put on the desk. This Kenwood microphone features a Push-To-Talk (PTT) switch with a locking button for long transmission. Up-Down tuning buttons on the base controls frequency and is adaptable to either older or newer types of transceivers. The MC-60A mic has a handy coiled cord that is terminated with a standard 8-pin round mic connector so that it can potentially be used on dozens of models of Kenwood transceivers. A distinctive feature of the MC-60A microphone is an internal pre-amp powered by the radio socket or two optional AA batteries. The microphone operates between a low impedance limit of 50 ohms and a high of 500 ohms. Control the mic conveniently through the frequency tuning controls at the base or using the frequency switch on its body. Many long-term users of Kenwood microphones may not be aware that the MC-60A mic has a built-in preamplifier that is powered by the two internal AA batteries. This is a great feature for some of the older transceivers. These microphones have a smooth sound when the preamp switch on the mic is set to “Off” or when they’re run without batteries. This is especially true on the new radios, such as the ts-2000 series radio . The MC-60A mic is compatible with both modern and legacy Kenwood and other transceivers, including mobile transceivers with RJ-45 8-pin modular mic connectors when used with the optional Kenwood MJ88 8-pin round to 8-pin modular adapter. You can also use this microphone without the base stand by connecting the microphone to the retractable cable then directly to the transceiver. By doing so, keep in mind that you can no longer use the preamp, which is built into the base stand. The microphone impedance may be set for 50k ohms or 500 ohms. To select different mic impedance settings on the MC-60A, all one has to do is flip a switch on the top of the microphone body. A minimum distance of 4 inches is recommended as an ideal speaking distance away from the microphone. Suggested optional parts and accessories for this microphone include a microphone adaptor cable, a mic jack, and an 8-pin modular plug.Product Identifiers
