I have a TX-NR609 that I bought back in 2011, it has spent most of its life in its box until recently and now i have no sound. There is a problem with defective network chips on the HDMI boards, a problem now recognised by Onkyo and they are offering extended warranty support on this issue until December 2018 for receivers manufactured between 2009 & 2012. if you visit their website there is a support forum and if you select amplifiers you have the option of 'Loss of Audio/Network connection customer care program' Hope that helps everybody affected.

Forget all those terrible soundbars, get a real Home Cinema system. Handles music very well also, and features lots of listening modes to suit your needs. @smackie65 - Sorry but you don't know what you're talking about, the yamaha uses the same DTS chip that was faulty on the Onkyo lol! - btw Onkyo do not make these chips, it's texas instruments who were to blame! besides, the rrevised HDMI boards are faultless, yamaha offer no such offer of repair!

Great Sound but some of the Networking options once hip are redundant. However I have managed to stream music direct from my Linux machine to the Network input using DLNA. There is no phono input but an external phono pre-amp if designed properly would be a better option than an internal one anyway. There are a lot of settings making it highly flexible and offering zone 2 configurations.
