Accurate but misleading - lathe and machinist skills required
The drawings are very easy to see and read, however they are not to scale. This means they are plans not templates. This means that you can not glue the drawings to your material and then cut them out using the drawings as a pattern, which is what I thought I was going to be doing. The discription states that there is no foundry or casting work required, that everything was assembled using stock materials that were easily available. I interpreted this to mean that I would be able to build this model from parts readily available from any hardware store and that no machining would be necessary - wrong. MACHINING IS REQUIRED. This means that you will have to have machinist skills and a precision steel cutting lathe.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Poor instructions and drawings
It would be better to charge twice as much and have clear drawings with proper tolerancing information. As well as a complete list of hardware required, and an exploded view to make sense as to how to assemble it. If you know anything about machining you can make this.
For me it was very easy to make. It also helps that I have been a tool maker for 40 years. I ended up modifying some of the parts and redesigning others to make it (in my opinion) a better running engine. You always have the option to build it the way you want.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Steam Engine Plans
This steam motor is a well made design. I am going to make in my free time. I would recommend these plans to anyone. I was looking for a steam engine more advanced and did not require any castings. I have not machined or built this engine yet but the plans are excellent. this is a robust built engine. Any builder will find drawings are easy to read.
