Apogee's last professional A/D converter
This unit is no longer made but is the last of the great Apogee A/D & D/A converters. If you are absolutely obsessed with accurate performance, you will appreciate the XLR connections. The modern multi-pin cables just sound anemic. I record million dollar violins, national treasure opera voices, ProArte prepared $170,000 pianos so the analog cable inputs in XLR configuration allow special attention to the individual nuance of the finest performers. I can not accept anything less. These units can be "daisy chained" together with the in/out word clock option (a must). The Apogee 800, unfortunately, already eliminated the XLR option and does not sound nearly as fine.
