Written by and starring Chris O'Dowd, whose career has taken him thus far from The I.T. Crowd to Bridesmaids, amongst other stops, Moone Boy arrives on disc in the aftermath of heavy praise following its TV transmission. It's set in and around the area where O'Dowd grew up, and it's thus perhaps no coincidence that Moone Bay is also described as 'semi-autobiographical'. It certainly has the feeling of a project that someone is very vested in, and here, O'Dowd plays the imaginary friend of a young boy. Furthermore, he's the imaginary friend of a young boy whose drawings have a habit of coming alive. It's a very well handled setup, too, with the show both selling the concept and earning many good laughs.
