About this product

Product Information

The definitive guide to everything you could possibly need to know about Morrissey and The Smiths Steven Patrick Morrissey is one of the most original and controversial voices in the history of popular music. With The Smiths, he led the most influential British guitar group of the 1980s, his enigmatic wit and style defining a generation. As a solo artist, he has continued to broach subjects no other singer would dare. Worshipped by some, vilified by others, Morrissey is a unique rock and roll creation. The 300,000 words of Mozipedia make this the most intimate and in-depth biographical portrait of the man and his music yet. Bringing together every song, album, collaborator, key location, every hero, book, film and record to have influenced his art, it is the summation of years of meticulous research. Morrissey authority Simon Goddard has interviewed almost everybody of any importance, making Mozipedia the last word on Morrissey and The Smiths.

  • One word describes this book - EXCELLENT!

I ordered this book, since I had a previous version, which after a time became outdated. Morrissey has released far more material than was in that previous version and being a big Morrissey and The Smiths fan, I felt justified to buy this newer version. I am intrigued by Morrissey and the charisma he is still able to portray after three decades. He is probably the greatest lyricist that the U.K. has to offer in 2018, running alongside early Bowie. Although I am a Bowie fan too, I have to say that even Bowie couldn’t compete with Morrissey’s lyrics, (until ironically Bowie’s final album Blackstar at least). This book is the “Encyclopaedia of Morrisey & The Smiths” and if there was a Degree in Morrissey, then this would be the major reference book on the syllabus. For those of you who like “stories” then this isn’t the book for you. If you are an avid Morrissey fan, requiring to know the REAL meaning behind, for example, the lyrics of, say, “Girlfriend in a Coma” then I suggest you rush out and get this book! You will not be disappointed. I remember thinking I knew everything regarding Morrissey & The Smiths, and having a discussion, which turned into more of a banter with a friend of mine regarding the real meaning of “William it was Really Nothing” felt he was off-track completely. My interpretation was TOTALLY different. My friend is an avid fan too, and in order to save our friendship I rushed to my bookshelf and pulled out the book in question. Morrissey had done it again of course and proved that the BOTH of us were wrong! It saved our friendship, and established Morrissey as being the ultimate lyricist, probably of all time, (in the Rock & Pop Circles at least). I would therefore recommend this book to those of you who like reference books, whether you are a Morrissey & The Smiths fan or not. As I mentioned earlier though, it is not a factual book with a story, such as the acclaimed “Morrissey & Marr.” There are plenty of books regarding Morrissey should you require this style. For the avid fan, with friends who will “argue the toss” regarding the meaning of, say, “This Charming Man,” and there are still a million fans who DON’T KNOW THE REAL MEANING, I would suggest you rush and get this book immediately! Thanks for reading - I hope I have been of some help!
