Not for SAM, SSM workable
I had an idea of buying a6500 and using my alpha 16-50SSM, 18-135SAM, 8-16 Sigma, 55-300SAM and a few primes lenses - all SAM. I borrowed a6300 at a party from a friend and tested it for 15 mins. 18-135 SAM was totally frustrating with hunting and very slow focusing. 16-50SSM was surely faster and usable, but not like a native E-mount lens. SAM probably usable for still subjects in good light. I didn't even test Sigma - this adapter is not a solution for me.

Not quite as good as hoped
I was hoping that using the LA-EA3 would allow the combination of an a6000 and a 70-300 G to focus faster than using the LA-EA4, since it would be using the camera's focus system and not the LA-EA4's focus system...while it focuses, it's super slow and it huntS A lot, even in bright sunshine...i hope it's user error but I fear it isn't...

Effectively use Maxxum and Sony A mount lens on Sony A7
This adapter is very quick. I'd say about as noisy as using these lenses on older Minolta or Sony digital cameras. I love the eye start autofocus, my A7 focuses when I put the viewfinder up to my eye. The adapter has it's own focusing sensor, so there's fewer focusing points. If you're used to the 100plus points on the A7 or other Sony mirrorless camera sensor then yes, might be a downgrade in focusing. The camera does look a bit funny with this odd black plastic “beard” hanging down below the lens mount.
