  • Quality Lens

I bought this to go on my XT-1 and found it a superb perfomer, it is solidly built and feels high quality. Images are sharp at every focal length. Soon afterwards though I managed to get hold of a well priced 16-50mm mk2 and did a lot of comparison shots in various situations and after closely inspecting the images, found no difference in image quality!, I know samples of lenses can vary but Fuji don't make any 'bad' lenses! So what to do? If you want the better quality, better performing, higher grade but more expensive lens get the 18-55mm, if you want the same or similar image quality and save some money, get the 'cheap' feeling 16-50mm, the extra 2mm makes a difference as well.

  • OK if you don't expect too much

Bought an X Pro 1 and needed a walk around lens without a huge price tag attached. The camera style appealed to me and Fuji seem to care more for their photographers than other makers in this range of cameras. Plus I wanted something that felt 'older school' and would be suitable for conversion to Infrared in due course. As a regular Nikon user - D4s and the pro lens range - I steeled myself for a step down in image quality and sharpness and was not surprised. Then again this cost 1/4 of the price of my cheapest Nikon lens so I can't really complain - and an adaptor puts these within reach and use if I am that miffed. It's a lens to use whilst I figure out how i want to use the camera so I've no real complaints. One surprising result, used the camera / lens combo recently in a video project and it did an excellent job.

  • This is no ‘kit’ lens.

Some assume that as this is the standard zoom that comes with the better Fuji cameras that it will be your average kit lens but it is not. It is made so well unlike the plastic lenses from other manufacturers with cheap plastic bayonet mounts. It is very sharp throughout the zoom range and with great anti-shake. It is made of metal and has a fast aperture at the wdie end and oretty good at the portrait end f2.8 - f4 compared to the usual f3.5 - 5.6. It mat be the only lens you need until you discover whether you really need long telephoto or super wide angle. Brilliant.

  • A great lens to travel with

Once a full frame Canon photographer, I'm now a Fujifilm X one. The XF18-55 zoom was bought specifically to travel with (I have the all-F2.8 version for UK use - but it is too bulky & heavy for hand luggage) and so far testing & practicing with it has revealed a lovely piece of glass which I'm delighted with. Fast, assured focussing, a good, bright image in the viewfinder, a well balanced lens in all aspects and worth the money I think.

  • Amazing lens at a great price.

Have been using the lens for just over 2 months in my round the world trip and the images are amazing for what you pay! In addition to good IQ, the range is good for travel photography and also has good weather resistance. Nothing to complain about!

  • Good but not great

If you have the Fuji compact system then this lens is the most affordable mid range small zoom. It does everything well, so well in fact that any of the several prime lenses within the 18-55 range will give no marked improvement other than perhaps weight. Fuji lenses are very expensive but this one is overall the best value for money.

  • Brilliantly sharp and useful tool in the armoury.

An excellent carry around lens. Yes the variable aperture is a tad annoying now and then. Yes the 18mm sometimes isn't wide enough and the 55 sometimes isn't long enough. But all of life is a compromise! For the price this little lens is a brilliantly sharp and useful tool in the armoury.

  • Fuji 18-55 zoom lens.

Absolutely first class lens. Not too heavy on my XPRO2. Balances well and covers an ideal range. Build quality is excellent and operation very smooth. Recommended.

  • The First X Lens you Absolutely Need

Reviews are everywhere but in short, it's sharp throughout, great contrast and colour, light and the OIS works a treat. Replaces the 18, 27, 35, 56 (yes!) and 60 Macro for all general, non-macro photography where you don't require the shallower DoF offered by the primes. A tremendously versatile and quality lens.
