There are a few options for mid range telephoto zooms from Fuji but this lens is exceptional. I have owned and used lots of Canon "L" glass including the 70-200 2.3 and the 70-200 f4 and the 300 f4 and 400 f5.6. This Fuji lens is better than all of them, its as sharp, has exceptional colour saturation and micro contrast, the image stabilization is better and its half the price. Build quality is very solid and the lens feels like it will last forever. The only slight negative is that the zoom mechanism is much stiffer than most other lenses i've used but it works and it does not slip. People are obsessed with buying new camera bodies mostly they dont improve your images much, but a lens like this will give you a big step up in image quality.

The reviews for this lens here on eBay are a little misleading. The XF 55-200 really ISN'T a fantastic lens. It's 'reasonable' in every way. It's a reasonable weight, reasonable size, reasonably fast, reasonably durable (although rather susceptible to dust) and creates reasonable results. In the mid range (both in terms of aperture and zoom) the results are pretty good, but at the extremes it doesn't perform particularly well. It doesn't perform badly, but it's certainly not excellent. But ... this is an inexpensive lens - especially if you get a used copy - and if you can find one for £250-£300 (which seems to be a 'fair' used price) then it IS worth the money. It's definitely an amateur lens, and professionals will not be happy with the results, but for a serious amateur this is a VERY good option.Read full review

Normally zoom lenses compromise quality for convenience. Not with this one. Images are razor sharp at all focal lengths and you would be hard pushed to tell them apart from images taken with a prime lens. A great lens.

a lens designed to fit in the mid range effective for decent portraits and garden wildlife. is relatively fast . the lens hood is like a n oversized toilet roll inner and looks out of place. however the lens is sharp and has a nice bokeh if needed . not heavy but lacks 50mm at the long end and is too fat at the short end 16 to 259 and it would be a cracking all round wildlife lens . however it does not dissapoint.
