I bought this set from Vanson Guitars. Great value AND geat sounding pickups. I have a set of Wilkinson alnico singlecoils in a strat style guitar and also in a bass with PB/J configuration pickups. Wilkinsons consistently deliver what I'm after. I have fitted this pair of P90's into a Stratocaster XII. To my ears the stock Fender pups never sounded happy on 12 string duty. So out with the router, make a new scratchplate fit new wiring and bingo. Having read up a lot about different volune pot values I tried both A500K and A250k. The latter sounds better; the A500k had a bit too much treble. On the tone I fitted a 0.022mf capacitor and it works very well. The guitar now has a 3 way switch and the pups are hum cancelling in the centre position which is a bonus. However these are reasonably quite anyway for single coils, certainly better than 'Strat' types. I would recommend these Wilkinson P90's to anyone. They have worked a treat on the Strat XII. The guitar sounds great and won't be going back in it's case for a good while now. The pole spacing is perfect with 52mm at the bridge and 50mm at the neck so all the strings sound equally. I'm now considering a set of Vanson HB90's to put in my standard LP style guitar to replace the stock humbuckers and get a clearer sound that P90's provide. At these prices searching for your sound is affordable and fun.Read full review

Whilst carrying out a major repair on my nephew's PRS Standard guitar, he asked me if it was possible to change the standard humbuckers (double coil pickups) for P 90s (single coil). As I have always preferred the brighter sound of single coils, I offered to change them. I have used Wilkinson pickups before, and always found them to be of good quality and great value. The first problem with the conversion is the different dimensions of the pickup cavities. The humbucker cavities are approx. 85 mm x 50 mm, while the P 90 dimensions are 85 mm x 35 mm. I chiseled out the cavities to size, but that left a gap at the top and bottom of the P 90s. I searched online for mounting rings for P 90s but found none available, so I had to make my own out of plastic laminate. After lining the cavities with self-adhesive foil (to shield the pickups and reduce hum), I soldered the two pairs of pickup wires to the selector switch. I then restrung and tuned the guitar, adjusted the pickup heights, and plugged it in. What a fabulous sound! I'm sure my nephew will be delighted with the result.Read full review

For the price these are very good. I’ve given four stars as they lack the body and warmth of some boutique offerings. However, at a fifth of the price these still sound very good and are great value for money!
