1080 only applies to photographs, not video.
Update**** Microsoft software is truly terrible ,it's destabilising my usb2 so it drops down to usb1 locking the camera to 160x120 ,to get my usb back I need to go device manager and uninstall usb drivers and let them reinstall themselves, replug in the camera so that installs again as soon as the camera sees any image movement while recording it knocks out usb2 again. Never buy Microsoft ********* Bought for YouTube streaming. Anything would be better than my previous webcam Setup. Installs drivers automatically. Requires its own little bit of bloatware. Didn't like generic external USB hub. Best video resolution is 1280x720 Autofocus is slow. Bendy stand clamp is great . Pivoting bit is great. Build quality feels good. Good for mounting in odd places. Not good if camera of subject is moving. If I can find alternative software to get 1080 video it would be much better. Thought Microsoft would have done a better job. Glad I got the cheapest one on eBay,would not be happy if I paid any more for it. Think I should have got a Logitech 920.
